Have you ever felt like you’re not unique enough to be successful?

Like there are way too many people already doing what you want to do? Same.

I constantly question if I’m talented or skilled enough to be noticeable.

We all want to stand out, so we can have a small piece of success, but most of us try to do it by blending in.

We tone down our quirks to sound more “professional” or focus on what we think people want to see.

That’s exactly what I was doing when I started putting my writing out there.

I chased what I thought people wanted to read—and, shocker—it flopped.

The harder I tried to please everyone, the less people actually cared.

If you’ve ever thought, “Why would anyone care about what I have to say?” or “What could I possibly offer that hasn’t been done before?” — this one’s for you.

Welcome to Inspired Idiots.

THE LIMITING BELIEF

“My weird mix of passions and talents doesn’t add up to anything valuable.”

In reality, your quirky uniqueness is your biggest strength.

The stuff that makes you you—your random skills, odd experiences, and passionate opinions—is what makes your work impossible to copy.

The most memorable work comes from people who dare to lean into their quirks.

The problem isn’t that your uniqueness isn’t valuable. It’s that you haven’t found the overlap where it meets what people actually need.

Here’s how to find that overlap with three circles.

THE ACTION: FIND YOUR ZONE OF GENIUS

Grab a piece of paper and draw three overlapping circles (or download the template I’ve attached below).

Circle 1: What You Love
What lights you up? List 5–10 things that spark joy, even if they feel random.
Ask yourself:
- What makes me lose track of time?
- What could I talk about for hours?

Circle 2: What You’re Great At
What are your hidden superpowers? Write down skills you know you’re good at—or that others have praised you for.
Ask yourself:
- What do people say I’m naturally good at?
- What do I enjoy helping others with?

Circle 3: What People Need
How can you make an impact? Think about the problems you’d love to solve or the gaps in knowledge you can fill.
Ask yourself:
- What do people struggle with that I’ve already figured out?
- Where do I want to make a difference?

Now, look at the overlap.

That sweet spot is your “zone of genius.” It’s where your quirks stop being random and start being valuable.

Three circles with PASSION, PROFICIENCY, and IMPACT labeled next to them. Find your zone of genius in the overlaps

WHY IT WORKS

When you create from your “zone of genius,” you’re working in alignment with who you are.

  • It feels authentic. You’re sharing what excites you.

  • It resonates. You’re solving problems in a way only you can.

  • It builds trust. People connect with your unique voice and perspective.

Your quirks are your competitive edge. They’re the reason someone will choose your work over someone else’s.

YOUR TAKEAWAY

If you’ve been struggling to figure out what makes your work valuable, ask yourself:

  • Where do my passions, skills, and impact overlap?

You don’t need to change who you are to be valuable. You just need to lean into what makes you you.

Take 15 minutes to map out your “zone of genius.” Your skills, experiences, and passions aren’t random—they’re your superpower.

What’s in your “zone of genius”? Reply and let me know—I’d love to hear.
