Sabah Ali: mid 20s earning $40k per month with no sales calls
How she gets customers to come to HER!
People buy into YOU more than what you offer — YOU are your business.
SABAH ALI — Personal Branding Coach for Online Entrepreneurs
I help online business owners become unforgettable by creating standout brands on social media to attract clients organically.
During college, I interned for an entrepreneur who needed an assistant. I’d fly all over, helping him organize 300-person events and land interviews with people like Grant Cardone. I had no clue what I was doing — I just tried really, really hard.
Every day, I’d post on social media about what I was learning.
I’d go live every day on my Facebook, and would get questions from people about social media, branding, and public relations. People started to know me as “that girl on social media,” and it didn’t take long before local businesses were asking me to help them attract customers.
I helped restaurants, breweries, even banks expand their business online. Then entrepreneurs and digital business owners started reaching out to me, picking my brain about how to consistently create good content.
As I learned more about not only social media, but just general human behaviour, I learned why certain types of content performed better. But I didn’t want to do behind-the-scenes work for other businesses — I wanted to be front and centre, coaching people. It felt more natural to be the face of my own brand and use my personality to help others transform.
I didn’t know what my “unique offer” was yet, so I started doing one-on-one coaching. I’d help people with goal-setting, posting effective content consistently, and working on their confidence.
I saw patterns in what these clients really needed, and that’s when I created my first online program on how to craft your own personal brand, developing your message, and the sales process.
I really focused on driving attention to my program, and by 2021 I was earning $50k / month and had a team of five people. But I knew that I didn’t really want to keep doing sales calls forever.
So, I shifted my business into what it’s become today.
Step-By-Step Strategy
I look at what someone wants and match that with the type of business they need. I have a six-step starter flow to the way I help people develop their personal brand:
Mindset - Learn tools and habits for consistency and conquering fear.
Brand - Develop your personal brand & use social media to stand out.
Offer - Clarify your marketing message and your ideal clients.
Grow - Learn exactly what to post to grow an audience who loves you.
Sales - Step-by-step launch plan to sell your offer and attract clients.
The main reason people come to me is because they want to make more money. They want to build their business in a way that feels authentic to them — and that means by building their personal brand so they can earn income by just being themselves.
The majority of my clients need leadership and confidence work. Your mindset is probably the most important thing that will make you successful.
My philosophy around sales and branding is that people buy into YOU.
I feel so confident about this because at the beginning of my career, I knew nothing — and people were still trying to work with me.
This is why it’s crucial that your business feels authentic to you and how you want to live.
I grew a great income by selling my program, but I didn’t want to build a business where I had to get on sales calls. I was focusing on numbers instead of on creating a personal brand that my right clients would be drawn to. If you have a skill people want and you deliver it in a way they feel connected to, they won’t need to be convinced to work with you.
The way I was selling coaching wasn’t how I would buy into coaching.
I paid my first coach $34,000 without getting on a sales call with her because I was buying into her — her personal brand. There was something about her I wanted to be.
I realized that if she could get me as a high-paying client without having to sell me, then why couldn’t I do that too?
The big difference with coaching is that you’re not paying for a short-term ROI.
You’re investing in skills that will help you for the rest of your life.
Isn’t Everyone + Their Mom Selling on Social Media Today?
Lots of markets might be saturated, but you’re not saturated.
People need different messengers for the same message. The way I teach a skill is different than the way you’ll teach it. I’m teaching people how to create content, and my approach will be different than someone else’s.
No one has your story or your voice. There are things about you that will resonate with people. Some of my clients chose me because I’m a woman of colour, because they loved my fashion, or because they liked my sassiness and confidence!
Once I learned more about energy and attraction and making people feel my brand, I shifted from a masculine selling approach to a more feminine one. Think hunting VS fishing!
I stopped selling to people in the DMs and focused on making content that addressed people’s most common objections (so there’d be even less need for sales calls). That made my audience really understand what I do for my clients. Because it’s not just about being your own boss and scaling your business.
I’ve learned that I have a gift in helping people see what they cannot see inside of themselves. I help people build their business in their own way and activate themselves by becoming financially free — whatever that looks like for them.
Branding is not optional for this reason.
Everyone needs a personal brand because that is how you sell your offer.
Low, Mid, & High-Ticket Offers
I wanted a business that was more “leaned back” and less in-your-face sales-focused. So, my offers today are more passive.
Start: People can opt into my free email sequences that provide helpful information on what I do, and introduce them to my digital products like my courses, e-books, and templates to help them learn my basic strategies.
I love this approach because this evergreen content allows people to introduce themselves to my brand with little involvement from me, so I can focus on providing better value to my clients.
People who want to learn strategy should go through my lower-ticket offers first. Once they learn those basics (and my style of coaching), they’ll better understand what I’m talking about and can ascend into my next levels.
Mid: My mid-ticket offerings are my seasonal mastermind programs and my membership community, Monetize Social Membership — which is all about how to grow your social media and sign on clients every single day. Membership is $97 / month or $997 / annual.
The key to a valuable membership community is making sure there’s a reason for people to stick around.
More than anything, people want to learn new and refined information. Members immediately get access to masterclasses and video trainings on
- Creating an offer
- Social media marketing
- How to sell, and
- Mindset (of course!)
Every month introduces a new theme. This month is “Organize Your Shit October: the Systems and Automations to Clean Up Your Biz to Scale.” This gets people excited for the next theme and new information.
Every Monday, I drop a video lesson with two action plans: one for members to do today, and one to do that week.
I do a Q&A call mid-month, where I’ll announce the next month’s theme. This is very effective because my members get tons of new info when they join, then they hop on that call, feel my energy, and get excited for next month.
Interactive + new info + high energy = engaged members!
High: Finally, I have my one-on-one clients. These people already have the strategy down and want to scale beyond six-figures. These people often want to expand into writing books, getting on stages, hosting events, etc. — and they want help refining their business to get these opportunities.
The majority of these clients come from my other programs. It’s an easy transition for them.
My business is currently earning $30-40k / month. The bulk of my income comes from my low-ticket offers and one-on-ones.
Tools + Costs to Run the Biz
I think people believe that having more stuff going on in your business means more money, and that is not accurate! Right now, I just have one VA and every so often will hire someone to help me with things like graphics or email sequences. But as for softwares I use to run my business…
Zoom → meetings | $16 USD / month |
Trello → content planning | $10 USD / month |
ActiveCampaign → email courses | $66 USD / month |
Slack → team communication | $7.25 USD / month |
Clickfunnels → funnels + courses | $147 USD / month |
Loom → screen recordings | $12.50 USD / month |
How to Get Clients
What I did, and what I’d recommend any newbie do, is focus on building a community. Post short videos every single day about your experiences and your results. Just get comfortable creating content about what you do for people.
When you go live to talk about what you’re doing, people WILL start to ask you questions. I promise that if you do this consistently for 30 days, you will discover a topic that you can create an offer around.
Then, take a few weeks to build out what that offer will look like, and tell your audience you’re creating this new offer.
If you want to be EXTRA smart, build a waitlist while you create that offer. Capture people’s emails and create build-up to the official launch date.
How to Be More Productive
Productivity ultimately comes down to mindset. If your brain feels like it’s fucking with you, your productivity will be affected.
When I’m in a season of working on my mindset, I’ll set 4-5 alarms on my phone to go off throughout the day that say, “Check in with yourself.”
This reminds me to be aware of how I’m feeling and makes it easier to reframe negative thoughts. Life gets busy, so set those alarms to do a mental check-in with yourself.
One Weird Habit That’s Made You More Wealthy
I always start my day by listening to affirmations that I’ve recorded of myself saying my goals as if I’m already living them.
Our brains can’t tell the difference between something that’s real and something that’s vividly imagined. So, I’m basically programming my mind to live that life right now. In doing that, I attract people and clients and actions that help me move toward that goal.
I get my clients to do this too, and there have been times when one of them will text me saying, “It really happened!” — That shit is almost magical.
1. Clarity comes from action, not thought. The quicker you take action, the clearer you’ll become. In between thought and action is where fear comes in. What if it doesn’t work? What if people judge me? What if I embarrass myself? Minimize the time between thought and action, and you will make shit happen.
2. Consistency is what will build you. The number one thing people struggle with is staying consistent in the beginning. Set an alarm to remind you to post on social media every single day. Make it a habit to tell people what you do.
3. Don’t just focus on what makes you the most money. Focusing too much on making more sales made me lose my energy around what I do — which is ultimately why someone would choose to work with me in the first place.
Having an amazingly authentic personal brand is a must for anyone who wants to grow a life-changing business, but it’s not JUST about brand. We have to make sure that what you’re trying to do is actually profitable.
Is there actually a market for it?
The four big niches that have a TON of money-making potential are:
Helping people make money
Helping people with health
Helping people with relationships
Helping people with mindset.
