Where's your energy going?

5 goals, 7 days—here’s how to make it work.

Reply to this email: What’s one limiting belief you struggle with?
We’ll write a newsletter about it!

Last week, we tackled Warren Buffett's Top 5 strategy to clarify your most important goals.
(If you missed that one, click here to catch up before diving in. Trust me, it’ll make this much more impactful for you!)

Now, let’s take it one step further—because I know what some of you are probably thinking:
“I can’t ONLY focus on five goals. Life is busy. There’s only so much time in a day.”

I hear you. Life is full of distractions, to-dos, and surprise tasks. But I’m about to introduce you to something magical: time.

Time to figure out where yours is going—and how to reclaim it for the goals that actually matter.

If you’ve ever told yourself, “I don’t have time to work on my big dreams,” this one’s for you.

Welcome to inspired idiots!

THE LIMITING BELIEF

“I don’t have enough time to pursue my goals.”

Spoiler: You do. You’re just not using it strategically.

The truth is, most of us give our energy to too many things—things that don’t serve our goals or bring us joy.

We fill our days with tasks that feel urgent but aren’t important.

Here’s the good news: you don’t have to add more hours to your day. You just have to reclaim the ones you already have.

I don't have time to work on myself or do something I'm passionate about today—but thank god I dusted behind the toilet!

THE ACTION: THE GOAL BUCKET EXERCISE

  1. Set the stage.
Grab two sheets of paper (or open a blank document). I’ve included a template below that you can print or upload to Canva!
On the first page, create five columns, one for each of your Top 5 goals.

  2. Dump your time.
Now, turn to the second sheet.
Set a timer for 10 minutes. Don’t skip the timer! It tricks your brain into action mode.
Write down everything you’ve done over the last week.
Work tasks, gym sessions, Netflix binges, cooking, cleaning, social media scrolling—get it all out.
Don’t hold back. (If you’ve got a calendar or to-do list, even better—use it to jog your memory.)

  3. Sort your tasks.
    Ping! Timer’s done.
Go through your list and sort each activity into one of your five goal buckets.
Some will fit neatly. Others won’t fit at all. That’s okay—we’ll get to those in a second.

  4. Review what’s left.
Look at the tasks that didn’t make it into a goal bucket.
Are you spending more time on laundry than your side hustle?
Did gaming sessions outweigh gym time?

If it doesn’t energize you or serve your goals, ask yourself:
“Do I really need to give this as much time as I have been?”

WHY IT WORKS

This exercise holds a mirror up to how you’re spending your time.

  • Awareness creates clarity. When you see where your hours are going, you can make intentional choices about where you want them to go.

  • Focus fuels progress. By aligning your time with your goals, you stop feeling busy and start feeling productive.

  • It highlights energy leaks. Some tasks drain you without adding value. Identifying them helps you set boundaries and prioritize better.

YOUR TAKEAWAY

Your goals aren’t waiting for you to find more time—they’re waiting for you to make time.

So grab your pen, map your time, and make space for the life you actually want.
Your energy is your most valuable resource. You have the power over how you spend it.
